Antietam Creek Canoe has added all new recreational
solo and tandem Kayaks to the
rental fleet for 2004... and will teach
"ACA Quick Start"
and "Introduction
to Kayak" on a tract
with "coastal Kayaking" . They are taught on the flat water
above Devil's Backbone Dam. "ACA - Basic Coastal through Open Water Kayak" Is
Taught through CkAPCO/ Mike Aronoff and
River Kayak instruction is referred to Mike and Valerie Dudash in
Washington County.

Instructor level Kayak certification courses are taught at all levels Introduction through open Water.
SOME TYPICAL ANTIETAM CREEK Kayak TRIPS
1.PUT IN AND PICK UP
TRIP starting at Devil's Backbone.
A. Arrive at the Put in at Devils Backbone 10:00AM
B. Sign waivers, unload all the gear you want on the trip, pay fees, make sure
your car keys are safe.
C. Quick Start Orientation at the put in
D. Put in at about 11AM [Trip can be guided or unguided]
E. Lunch on "two Goose islands" about 12:30
F. Take out at Burnside Bridge, 3PM load boats on the waiting trailer and bus;
refreshments are on the bus during take out and the 15 min trip back to the
put-in.
G. Pretty simple. for a trip you may never forget.
2. Put in and Drive away at the
take out.
A. & B. same
C. Drive your car to the take out, I lead the caravan. Leave your car at the
take out, I bring the drivers back to the put in.
D. E. same
F. Take out at Burnside Bridge, load boats, climb in your car and leave
G. same
3. Split trip, part to Burnside
Bridge, Part to Potomac C&O Canal take out.
A. B, C, D, E. same
F. At the Burnside Bridge take, out some paddlers take out and the remaining
paddlers continue on to the Potomac C & O Canal take out.
G. From Burnside Bridge, I bring the first group back to the put in and go back
to pick up the remaining paddlers at the C&O take out. The additional 4
miles of paddling takes about 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
There are many many variations to
the trip and shuttle combinations available. Since our trips are tailored just
for you, it's pretty easy to work out a suitable choice for your day on the
Creek.
